AKC Club Eligibilty to Hold Dog Shows :
   The AKC has requirements for the CCKC and any other AKC club
   to be eligible to hold its annual show(s).

AKC 2008 awards for Canine Excellence (ACE) : this program shines a spotlight on
     deserving canines in the categories of : Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue,
     Therapy, Service, and Exemplary Companion Dogs. Prizes to be awarded at the
     AKC Eukanuba National Championship in Long Beach California in Dec 2008, and
     winners will appear in the AKC Gazette, AKC Family Dog Magazine, and on the
     AKC website. Anyone can nominate any dog. The deadline for nominations is
     June 30 2008. Anyone can get an application for nomination from the AKC website here :

AKC Political Action Committee (AKC PAC) :
     this committee was formed in Oct 2007 as a response to current dog legislation
     (which presents a menace to responsible dog owners/breeders/show dogs)
     that is trying to be passed throughout the United States. Issues include mandatory
     spay/neuter bills, breed specific legislation (discrimination).

AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day (RDO) 2008 :
  the AKC encourages AKC affiliated clubs and organizations to hold a
  community event publicly promotingresponsible dog ownership anytime during
  the month of September each year. This can be as simple as having a public
  education table available at a dog show, or a full blown event in itself.

AKC Classified Ad Program : A new AKC program called “Demand AKC Papers”
asks AKC clubs to place classified ads that direct puppy buyers to 2 websites :

to inform puppy buyers that they should seek an AKC dog when buying a family pet
in order to receive the healthiest, happiest dog possible. More information is
